ABOUT THE SD COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The current members have been in office since 1995. In light of the upcoming election (June 3, 2008), Secure Accurate Elections has compiled a list of articles tracking some of the activities of the SDBOS over the past two years. In addition, SAE has written a letter to the North County Times, urging voters to consider the length of time the current members have served and the need to support new candidates for SDBOS.
SURVEY FOR SD COUNTY SUPERVISOR CANDIDATES With three Supervisor seats coming up for election, Secure Accurate Elections submitted a questionnaire to all incumbent Supervisors and new candidates. Tough questions regarding the holding of town hall meetings, overseeing the Chief Administrative Officer, election integrity, and "clean money" campaigns. As the candidates return the questionnaires, SAE will post the answers. Click here to read the survey.

CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO OPEN A DIALOGUE ON ISSUES IMPORTANT TO US!!! Every election in a democracy should be contested. There are three seats up for election in 2008 for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors: Greg Cox (District 1), Dianne Jacob (District 2) and Pam Slater-Price (District 3). They should not go unchallenged. Candidates have the window of February 11 through March 7 to file with the Registrar of voters. To our knowledge, the only Supervisor who will have an opponent in June will be Dianne Jacob. She is being challenged by Rudy Reyes who was badly burned in the Cedar fires in 2003 while helping to rescue others. He has first hand knowledge of the unresponsiveness of this Board to many of the problems facing the citizens of San Diego County. This Board of Supervisor's have been together since 1995. They are seldom challenged. For those already holding office, incumbency comes with the abilities to list accomplishments, stock up on name identification, and dispense funds to notable community groups -- a practice critics liken to buying popularity. It's expensive to canvas a district that represents about as much sprawling territory as a congressional seat. Many voters are unfamiliar with the $4.33 billion worth of functions county government performs annually and know very little about the candidates' political tendencies, rendering the race vote for supervisor comparatively inconsequential to more high-profile races. Election time offers our community the opportunity to find out where candidates stand on issues important to San Diego County and opens up discussions on these issues. However, if there are no challengers to an office, there are no opportunities for these discussions and debates. WE NEED CANDIDATES FROM DISTRICTS 1 AND 3 to open up discussions and debates on issues important to our communities and the County of San Diego. Please talk with your friends and consider running yourself for the Board of Supervisors. Let Secure Accurate Elections know if you or someone you know is considering becoming a candidate for one of these board seats.
