What Happens To My Paper Ballot On Election Night??

Simple Flow Chart

 

1. Vote in Box 2. Ballots Trucked 3. Ballots Arrive (con't below)

 

4. Precinct Number on Carton Checked in with Hand-held Scanner (con't below)

5. Cartons containing ballots are unsealed and inspected (con't below)

6. Sent to "scanner staging area" where precinct specific memory cards are matched or "married" to precinct box of ballots. (con't below)

7. Ballot now goes to scanning area. Precinct specific card put in scanning machine zero tape printed Ballots fed into scanner ender card entered results printed on results tape

 

Memory Card with votes recorded from scanner goes to Tabulator Room.

8. Memory card with votes from precinct are fed into another scanner which uploads the information to the Central Tabulator or GEMS machine which totals all votes from all precinct memory cards.
